This year we marked our 25th Anniversary of the AIDS Walk in Edmonton and it was amazing! In honour of this milestone we were thrilled to announce that for the first time a sitting Premier launched the Walk! Premier Rachel Notley helped make history with us! With the launch of the first ever Superhero Run in partnership with the Running Room there were two ways to participate! We had our Heroes for Zero walk and run for awareness this year!
We had a very special keynote speaker this year with CANFAR Youth Ambassador Muluba Habanyama sharing her lived experience of loss and HIV. Muluba, at only 23, speaks of shame and stigma but after keeping HIV a secret her message now is clearly about resilience, leadership and empowerment! She was also very popular on our Edmonton media!
With everything from Zumba to the big band sound of the Retrofitz to the best drag show in town, this really was the best festival of the season! The fun didn't stop there... Evolution Wonderlounge for the third year hosted our official Superhero afterparty!
There is a Superhero inside all of us… We just need the courage to put on the cape!
We thank our Superpower sponsor Gilead- We truly could not have done this event with your support! Congratulations to Gilead for also being the Top Fundraising Corporate Team!
Thank you to all our sponsors for making this a truly exceptional event!
